The Quarters Primary School community has been strengthening their relationships in order to combat bullying.

As part of the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence on Friday 18 August, pupils learnt how to stop bullying during last week.

Wellbeing team member Shilpa Sanghani said all year levels created displays about the power of social and emotional connection last week.

“This year’s theme is ‘Growing Connections’ and promotes the strong links and social connection in our school communities as effective ways to address and combat bullying,” she said.

“Throughout the week, the learners at QPS discussed what bullying is and how we can prevent this.

“The displays will remain up to remind the learners of the importance of taking a stand against bullying and violence and to empower the learners to call out bullying.”

The displays used motifs such as monsters and donuts and included messages like ‘We Scare Bullies Away at QPS’ and ‘Donut Be a Bully’.

Wellbeing team member Averil Mitchell said the week’s activities also included online webinars.

“Our Grade 3-6 learners attended the e-Safety Commissioner safety resources webinars that are aimed to help children to have safer and more positive experiences online,” she said.

“Hence, promoting the importance of school, family and community connections in building safe and supportive learning environments where all learners can belong, feel accepted and respected.”
