Pyjama party for charity

KILBERRY Valley Primary School students ditched their school uniforms for their pyjamas last week to raise money for Victoria’s homeless.
Visitors to the Hampton Park school could have been forgiven for thinking they’d arrived at a giant slumber party, as the kids spent the day working, resting and playing in their nighttime attire.
The PJ Day was just one of the fundraising activities organised as part of National Homeless Persons’ Week, which last year raised more than $23,000 to provide emergency beds for 500 people in desperate need of accommodation.
Teacher Chris Lodewyke said the kids embraced the chance to wear their ugg boots and fluffy dressing gowns to school and help a good cause.
They raised $706 for Melbourne Citymission.
“It was a fantastic day. The community here is really great,” he said.
“Every term we do a different fundraising activity and the PJ Day was our effort for term three.
“It was a bit of fun and even the teachers participated.”
