Seven last-quarter goals blew the margin out to 61 points for the undefeated ladder leaders, with Sam McLean finishing with five majors.

Tyler Campbell has continued his strong form for Narre South, while Tim Shepherdson kicked three goals and Nicholas Green was also in the best.

Brandon Nolan kicked seven goals to lift his season tally to 40 after nine games, while Jackson Nolan and Jake March were also among the best.

ELLINBANK AND DISTRICT

Ellinbank has thrown its hat into the ring as a contender for this year’s EDFL premiership after the Eagles survived a Saturday afternoon ‘mud-bath’ by a solitary point against previously undefeated Buln Buln.

A late goal to Gaige White, with just 30 seconds left on the clock, secured the victory in diabolical conditions for football.

The second-placed Eagles 4.1.25 to 3.6.24 victory saw them turn around a 64-point defeat at the hands of the Lyrebirds in round two, with a new-look composition throwing something different at the ladder leaders.

Liam Anderson, Ben Wragg, Bernard Laverty, Tom Johnson, Jaxon Notman and Xavier Vanlangenberg were all missing from the team from earlier in the season, replaced by Will Jolley, Adamson Cook, Tim Mashado, Ryan Carpenter, Nick Pratt and Alex Olsen.

Not that coach Jake Harper would have known who was who at the final siren, with all players caked in mud.

Tim Mashado, Daniel Pratt and skipper Mick Urie kicked the earlier goals for the Eagles, before White calmly slotted the winner.

Bryce Joyce and Ryan Atherton were determined through the midfield for the winners, while Harper helped contain the Lyrebirds down back.

Speedster Riley Rundell capped off a terrific game for Buln Buln with one of his team’s three majors.

The Eagles have now closed the gap at the top of the table to just one game.

Lang Lang has overtaken Yarragon into seventh place on the ladder after a 43-point triumph at Lang Lang.

The Tigers were quick out of the blocks, opening up a 34-point lead at quarter time with an early 5.5. to 0.1 burst.

The four points were basically locked away at that point, with Kalin Parker, Luke Clark and Daniel Reid all having major influences in the 11.11.77 to 4.10.34 victory.

Reid and Josh Brown kicked two each for the Tiges, supporting Mitch Davey who provided a focal point up forward with three goals.

Lachie Devine kicked two goals for Yarragon.

Trafalgar has made it four wins on the bounce with a 65-point success over Nilma-Darnum.

The Bloods are chugging along nicely at the moment in third place, with Matt Swenson kicking three goals to help his side get across the line.

Zach Harland, Bailey Webb and Daniel Baker were terrific for the winners for four quarters, while Seb Crowle, Nick Carrigy and Nathan Campbell were best for the Bombers.

After a six-game losing streak, Longwarry has made it back-to-back victories for just the second time this year with a dominant 16.19.115 to 7.11.53 win over Catani.

The Crows are in sixth position on the ladder after Jedd Serong produced a masterclass up forward with five goals.

Serong was backed up by three goals each to Fintan Fox and Braydon McHugh, while Liam Kirkman and Darren Granger were others to hold major influence around the ground.

Tom Keily and Lachie Gregson kicked two each for the Blues, who have now lost four on the trot to remain in second last place on the ladder.

And Neerim South has rebounded strongly from last week’s loss to Buln Buln…wiping the floor with Nyora by 148 points at Neerim.

The Saints were up for the fight early, trailing by just 10 at quarter time, before the Cats ramped things up with a 9.4 to 1.0 second term.

The Cats then finished things off in totally dominant fashion, booting 10.4 to no score in the final stanza to race away with the four points.

Lachie Bambridge and Kody Wilson kicked five each for the Cats, while Luke Kinder and Chris Urie chimed in with four each.

Jordan Anderson and Connor Thompson stuck things out for the savaged Saints.

Poowong had the bye.
