The Panthers of Devon Meadows are on the prowl, with top spot in the CCCA District competition in their sights.
All it will take is 100 runs with 10 wickets in hand to dethrone Upper Beaconsfield at the top of table, which, with two rounds remaining, could dictate the layout of the finals race come early March.
Devon Meadows have proven to be the Maroons’ nemesis already this season, having inflicted their only defeat of the competition thus far back in round three, by 41 runs.
Lots will fall on the shoulders of Maroons bowlers Chad McDonald and Kyle Gibbs if their side is to retain their supremacy.
At Lawson Poole Reserve, Cranbourne Meadows are gunning for fourth spot on the table at the expense of NNG/Maryknoll.
After claiming the final wicket of the Lang Lang innings, Cranbourne Meadows will need to chase a score of roughly 200, with the Tigers currently 9/186 after 80 overs.
Any further resistance offered by Alan Jenkins and Trevette Kerner will be vital for Lang Lang, who risk dropping to fourth if they are upset by Cranbourne Meadows.
In what would be one of the upsets of the season, Pakenham Upper Toomuc are in the box-seat against NNG/Maryknoll, requiring eight wickets for victory after declaring at 6/361.
The Marygoons are 48 runs into their chase but lost two crucial wickets late in the day, as the Yabbies look to break a four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile Emerald, no-doubt still licking their wounds after last week’s three-run loss to Cranbourne Meadows, will look to pile-on the pain for the Gembrook, requiring eight wickets for an outright victory.
Gembrook need another 65 runs to make the Bombers bat again.
