Andreatta skips team to victory

South West Gippsland Mid-Week bowlers enjoyed perfect conditions last week…cool, no rain, not too warm, not too cold and with a nice calming breeze to top things off.

A total of 23 players turned up at San Remo to fight it out in the weekly challenge, and it wasn’t an easy day for anyone.

There was some excellent opposition on all the rinks, but still a lot of fun with lots of laughter and bantering from around the green.

It is these friendships that keep us coming back to keep playing with our Thursday bowls family.

The green was, once again, in excellent condition and running true which was borne out with the scoring.

A few dollars were donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital tin by some of our excellent bowlers, who bowled reverse bias bowls, which goes to show that it can happen to anyone, and does.

The winners on 33 points were Mark Andreatta (S), Phil Wright (3), Michael Saunders (2) and Bill Williams (L).

Runners up for the day, also on 33 points, were John Nicholson (S), Laurie Bell (3), Pauline McWilliams (2) and Michael Dady (L).

Best one game winner, on 24 points, was Peter Gratton (S), Sue Stansfield (3), Enid Johnson (2) and Bobby Arnold (L).

Once again we would like to thank Peter and Pauline McWilliams for all the hard work they do to keep our Thursdays on track.

I have said it before and I will say it again, thank you very much Peter and Pauline.

Thank you also to John for his assistance every week. Thank you to Mark, Peter T and Peter Mac behind the bar.

Thank you also to Gwen for all her work in the kitchen.

Next week we will be at Kooweerup, so we look forward to seeing everyone there by 10am for a 10:30am start…everyone is welcome.
