LANG LANG GOLF

The 2022 Club Championships have kicked off at Lang Lang and there are no excuses for golfers with the course in amazing condition.

Some nicer weather has arrived finally and this has led to some very large fields, especially for the championships.

It is so good to see so many golf fans out and about and enjoying the fast greens, carpet like fairways, and the beautiful landscape that makes the Lang Lang Golf Club so unique.

Clint Walker leads the way after round one after shooting a fantastic round of 72.

Results for the week as follows:

Tuesday Par Comp

Sunshine and blue skies provided a perfect day for competitors on Tuesday, with the winner being Graham Fitton (Leongatha GC) with a score of +3, winner by countback to Colin Crowle (Deep Creek GC). Ball rundown to 0.

Nearest the pins: 5th Nik Hock, 9th Fred De Bondt, 12th Garry Rotteveel and 15th Noel Zunneberg.

Wednesday and Saturday saw the ladies commence their Club Championships, and both days provided good conditions. After round one, the leader board shows:

A Grade: Gross

B Grade: Gross

Good luck to all of our ladies over the coming two rounds, hopefully the nice conditions continue.

Thursday 4BBB/Stableford

Another “good for golf” weather day allowed another large field some great conditions to play under.

With the fairways resembling a lawn bowl rink we are certainly spoilt when it comes to course conditions.

Winners on the day were James Hedrick and George Morozoff with 46 points by countback to Brian Smith and Alec Hamilton. Ball rundown to 42 points

Nearest the pin: 5th Frankie Chiu, 9th Shane Sparks, 12th John Bellis, 15th Stuart Powell.

Saturday – Men’s Club Championships

Another great day for golf, with barely a breath of wind and mild conditions, with none of the expected late afternoon showers eventuating.

Full fields and plenty of socialising provided a fun and fantastic day for everyone at the club.

A highlight of the day was David O’Donnell who managed a hole-in-one on the ninth, and was applauded accordingly by the gallery on the deck.

Congratulations David, even better that it was shared by so many fellow golfers.

Results after Round 1 as follows:

A Grade: Gross

Clint Walker 72, Dale Gude 75, Bret Mottrom 76.

B Grade: Gross

Blake Batt 80, Josh Rietman 84, Will Mirtschin 86.

C Grade: Stableford

Tom Condy 39 points, Craig Mirtschin 38 points, Neil Harris 36 points.

A special shout out to Cal and his team for presenting the course in such an immaculate condition, your hard work is much appreciated and we are very lucky to have such a beautifully presented course to play on.

Just be careful of those insects hiding in hard-to-find places.

Happy golfing to all of our members and guests, and good luck to all of those who are playing in the club championships.
