Dales go down in a thriller

MORNINGTON PENINSULA NEPEAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE

DIVISION TWO

Pearcedale finished its MPNFL finals campaign on the wrong side of one of the greatest games of local footy in recent times.

The Dales went down to Karingal in an electric shoot out on Sunday, 17.13 (115) to 17.7 (109).

With 27 of the 34 goals scored at one end, it could be safely be assumed that there was a tempestuous wind at RJ Rowley Reserve in Rye, however it wasn’t the case, it was just 120 minutes of pure momentum swinging football.

Unfortunately for Pearcedale, the Bulls’ last favour of momentum came at the right time, booting seven goals to two in the final stanza to secure the tight victory.

Former Pakenham star Darcy Hope kicked four majors to assist teammate Matt Robinson, who fired off six.

Dale Alanis kicked the sealer for the Bulls, giving his side another crack at Somerville – who the Bulls lost to last week – next Saturday.

The winner of the Eagles and Bulls will face Langwarrin in the grand final, after the Roos hopped over Somerville on Saturday, 16.11 (107) to 13.8 (86).
