POLICE are appealing for public assistance to find the attackers of eight cricketers who were brutally bashed in Cranbourne just before Christmas.
Five of the eight Merinda Park cricket players suffered serious injuries after they were set upon by a group of up to 20 men outside McDonald’s, on the corner of Camms Road and South Gippsland Highway, about 3am on 18 December.
The players were punched, kicked and some had their heads stomped on while unconscious.
Four were taken to hospital with injuries including three broken jaws, a broken nose, compressed cheekbone, eyesocket damage and bruising to the brain.
Detective Senior Constable at Cranbourne CIU Ollie Gaspari said police were still investigating the incident.
He called for anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Cranbourne CIU on 5995 4577.
