Dales down Devon

MORNINGTON PENINSULA NEPEAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE

DIVISION TWO

Despite a third term resurgence, Devon Meadows has fallen out of the MPNFL finals race at the hands of arch-nemesis Pearcedale.

The Panthers trailed at every stanza of the match, but only a single behind at three-quarter time after five goals to one in the third period.

Pearcedale held its nerve in fourth quarter to boot three unanswered majors, ultimately sealing the 11.20 (86) to 8.11 (59) victory.

The Dales really could’ve put the Panthers to the sword in the last, kicking an inefficient 3.11 in the final 30 minutes.

Luke Daniel kicked four for the Dales in a brilliant performance, while Huw Jones, Travis Bravo, Jake Frawley, Archie McGuiness and Jordan Bastinac were the others among Pearcedale’s best.

For Devon Meadows: Liam Drew, Hayden Murphy, Justin Kiss, Hamish McLeod, Brady O’Toole and Daniel Hellyer were listed as its best players.

The Panthers are now out of the finals, while Pearcedale will take on Karingal, which suffered a 10.10 (70) to 6.9 (45) defeat to Somerville on Saturday.

Somerville will take on minor premiers Langwarrin at Chelsea on Saturday, while Pearcedale will travel to Rye to take on the Bulls on Sunday.
