Woman robbed in Langwarrin

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a woman was robbed in Langwarrin last week.

An 87-year-old woman was on her mobility scooter on Southgateway, near a reserve which intersects with Hornsby Drive, when she was approached by six to eight young boys.

The teens asked the woman for money for breakfast before she took out her purse to provide the boys with a small amount of cash.

One of the boys then grabbed the woman’s purse and a $100 note and struggled with the victim as she tried to retrieve her belongings.

The group then walked away towards Centre Road.

The Langwarrin woman – who was shaken by the incident that occurred on Wednesday 29 June at about 10.30am – reported the matter to police over the weekend.

Detectives are seeking assistance from the public to identify the youths involved.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time with dashcam vision or anyone with CCTV to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
