A HAMPTON Park teenager came out of last week’s heatwave worse for wear when he was injured after allegedly stealing a singlet and icypoles from a local supermarket.
A security guard reported seeing a youth try on the singlet under his jumper about noon on Tuesday, 24 January.
The boy then allegedly opened a box of ice blocks, which he put in his pocket and distributed to friends.
The guard chased the boy, who attempted to flee from the supermarket on his bike.
His escape didn’t go quite to plan as he rode into the glass sliding doors at the store’s eastern entrance, smashing both doors and unhingeing one.
A 15yearold boy was taken to the Cranbourne police station.
A BRAZEN thief took advantage of Friday’s power blackout to steal goods from Supercheap Auto in Cranbourne North.
It is believed the thief entered the rear staff office and stole a purse and mobile phone between 4.50pm and 5.15pm on Friday 27 January after storms cut the store’s power .
The goods were valued about $900.

THIEVES robbed a Cranbourne house while the owners slept in an upstairs bedroom on the weekend.
It is believed the thieves forced an upstairs bedroom window about 3.20am on Saturday, 28 January, before ransacking a number of rooms.
Police said the owners were woken by the intruders, who fled on foot.
The thieves made off with an estimated $1900 worth of cash, DVDs and video games.
The theft prompted a police warning for home owners to lock all doors and windows, even upstairs entry points.

POLICE have appealed for witnesses who may have seen a car that was damaged in the Centro Cranbourne Shopping Centre car park last weekend.
A 52yearold woman returned to her car in the northern car park after shopping to find the rear passenger window had been smashed.
She was in the centre between 11.45am and 12.30pm on Saturday, 28 January.
Nothing was stolen from the fawncoloured 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.
