Marriott Waters Reserve in Lyndhurst opened the doors to its upgraded facilities on Thursday 5 May thanks to a joint investment from the State Government and the City of Casey.
Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards joined City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM, representatives from Lyndhurst Football Netball Club, Lynbrook Cricket Club and Gladiators Cricket Club to officially open the pavilion upgrades, made possible thanks to a $1.1 million investment from the Victorian Government through the Local Sports Grant.
The City of Casey contributed $490,000 and managed the delivery of the project, bringing to total value of the upgrade to $1.59 million.
The upgrades have expanded the old netball change rooms and now include two new change rooms to cater for football, cricket and netball, where there’s also additional community space and storage areas.
Ms Richards said upgrade is a real boon for local clubs, their players and community groups.
“The new pavilion spaces are a great win for local sport and community and provides the perfect place for the community to reconnect and enjoy the big games,” Ms Richards said.
“With grassroots sports back on at the park, more than ever growing communities and clubs like those here in Lyndhurst need quality facilities they can depend on.
“Sport and active recreation is not just good for our physical and mental health, it brings people together and builds communities in good and tough times, that’s why projects like these are so important.”
