Revved up and ready to race

By Alison Noonan
ALMOST 5000 revheads braved scorching temperatures on Saturday for the Tooradin Tractor Pull and Truck Show.
The extreme heat failed to deter the mass crowd that flocked to Rutter Park Reserve to see the monster machines in action.
Competitors from across Australia put on a mighty show as they battled it out for the Victorian Tractor Pulling Championship crown.
For the second year, following huge demand, the tractors were joined by the truck show, which kicked off at 10am.
Two tracks opened at 3pm for seven classes of modified tractor action, wowing spectators with crazy stunts and roaring engines.
Entertainment continued throughout the day, including skydivers, joy flights, helicopter rides, clowns and live bands.
Organiser Mark Milligan labelled the day a “roaring success”.
“We haven’t had any negative feedback from the day at all,” he said.
“We are very pleased, considering how hot it was.
“We had people still coming in at 8pm which was great and we didn’t encounter any trouble.”
Mr Milligan said the event raised thousands of dollars for local sporting clubs and charities and thanked the local community for its support.
“We just hope it will continue to get bigger,” he said.
