Bomb alert

A BOMB that exploded at Cranbourne Secondary College last week has prompted a police warning not to mess with explosives.
Police said the homemade device blew up at the doors to the school’s administration area about 8.50pm on Wednesday.
The explosion shattered a window and caused a small amount of damage to the doors and roof.
Members of the Special Operations Group Bomb Response Unit were called to the school.
It is believed the bomb was made using aerosol cans.
Principal Yvonne Watts said she was at the school at the time of the incident but was unaware a bomb had detonated.
“Noone heard or knew anything about it,” she said.
However, she said it was concerning to know that people were experimenting with explosive materials and issued a warning to those responsible.
“Experiments should go on in the science rooms.
“I am more concerned about the people creating these devices and the harm they could cause on themselves.
“The last thing we want is to find a body at the scene, which would cause more trauma than the damage to a building,” she said.
Officerincharge at Cranbourne CIU, Detective Sergeant Larry Grimshaw, said police were taking the matter very seriously.
“This is not a prank. A bomb can have very serious consequences.
“This could have had the potential to harm or even kill someone,” he said.
He said police were still investigating.
