Many batters have strut their stuff this home-and-away season and compiled marvellous scores.
In this edition of Tyler’s Top 10, TYLER LEWIS takes a look at the top 10 highest scores in the competitions of coverage in south east. The batters who go on with it, make the most of a set base to make a mammoth score.
While the lower grades are the staple of all competitions, this edition is just focused on the top grades, apologies must be sent out to all the lower grade (bullies) run machines out there…
10. Luke Manders (VPC First XI: Casey-South Melbourne v Camberwell Magpies) 116: Just a couple of weeks ago, the fire-cracker opener belted his second ton in three weeks. He went to his triple-figure score off 86 balls after being 35 from 53.

Rijitha is showing off a bit here, he features in the list more than once. The best part of these knocks is that he is not out at the end, hinting if it was two day cricket he would’ve had more runs left in the tank. Despite two centuries he only comes in at eighth and ninth, perhaps this is all the encouragement he needs to belt a big one on Saturday.
7. Taylor Joyce (WGCA District: Upper Beaconsfield v Pakenham Upper Toomuc) 121 not out: It’s upsetting that Taylor is good at cricket too. Kicks goals for fun in the winter and then churns out magical knocks in the summer. Feel free to be mediocre at a sport, Taylor!
6. Kane Hawkins (MPCA Peninsula: Flinders v Somerville) 122: You simply can’t miss the first ball when watching Kane Hawkins bat, because he is likely to hit it for six. The young lefty bats like he has some sort of formal event at about 4pm and doesn’t want to be late.
5. Jordan Wyatt (DDCA Turf 1: Springvale South v Berwick) 124 not out: A knock to remember, Wyatt was battling before a six over square leg got him going. He and his batting partner Mitch Forsyth were grinding in the 30’s before Wyatt left his partner in the dust. When he walked out to bat his side needed 171 to win, he came back to the sheds with 124 of them.
4. Nuwan Mendis (DDCA Turf 3: Springvale v Silverton) 126: Give Nuwan Mendis the Turf 3 medal now! If there weren’t as many guns in the south east, Mendis could fill this on his own. He has belted three centuries this summer, none bigger than 126 against Silverton.

Vishesh Bansal (VPC First XI: Frankston-Peninsula v Fitzroy Doncaster) 137: One Star News Group photographer went all the way out to Schramms Reserve in Doncaster to watch this knock and realised when he hit the boundary he had forgot to pack his battery to his camera. He doesn’t want to talk about it because Vish proceeded to belt eight sixes and 11 fours on his way to 137 off 108 balls. He was out in the 32nd, imagine what he could’ve done if he didn’t hole out.
2. Karanvir Singh (WGCA Premier: Cranbourne Meadows v Carlisle Park) 142: What a way to start the season. After a wash out in round 1, the Cranbourne Meadows opener made up for lost time in the Rebels season opener, 142 off 100 balls, 18 fours and six bombs. His side made 300 in 40 overs this day…
1. Selva Tharaka (DDCA Turf 3: Silverton v Lynbrook) 155 not out: A latest of charges for the number one spot and it’s a bit silly! On Sunday Tharaka made 155 not out in a 40 over match! If a side makes 155 in 40 overs, it’s considered competitive let alone an individual. Tharaka’s unbeaten 155 came as Silverton posted 4/233. He didn’t stop showing off there either; he also took 3/27 in the second dig. Fairly confident he picked up the three votes in this rescheduled round 1 game.
