WHILE there might be uncertainty around Jaxson Moat’s condition, one this is for certain – plenty of people care about him.
The four-year-old Cranbourne boy suffers from an undiagnosed neurodegenerative disorder where part of his brain is deteriorating.
He also suffers from hypertonia and respiratory problems so is unable to walk, crawl, sit, hold his head up or eat without assistance.
But the local community is rallying around the Moat family to make life a little easier for them.
Family friend Laine Bruin has organised a trivia night to help raise money for them. It will be held at the Devon Meadows Primary School hall, which was donated for the evening.
There’ll be auctions and raffles after local businesses donated a number of goods and services.
Jaxson’s mother Kerri said the money would be used for the equipment they needed for him, which they don’t get funding for.
“We need equipment including hoists and slings and eventually renovations to the house, as his bedroom is currently the lounge room as we are unable to fit his hospital bed that he requires up the stairs,” she said.
Ms Moat said the community support had overwhelmed her.
“It’s so amazing what people are doing,” she said.
“I never imagined that so many people would want to help and do this sort of thing for us.
“It’s awesome how people have opened their hearts.”
The trivia night will be held on Saturday 10 November from 7pm. Tickets are $10 per person, with tables of 10 available.
