ALMOST 100 people turned out for the Casey Demons Supporter Group’s annual breakfast last week.
The event was held at Casey Fields on Friday and aimed to give Casey Demons members, Melbourne Football Club (MFC), the Casey Scorpions and the City of Casey the chance to have a meal together in a relaxed atmosphere.
MFC president Don McLardy and former MFC player, singer and actor Russell Robertson were the guest speakers.
MFC club development general manager and former player Chris Connolly was the master of ceremonies and entertained the crowd of about 90 people.
Casey Demons Supporter Group president Lisa Schreurs presented Mr McLardy with a cheque for $500 for the Reach Foundation, which had been donated by Casey Demons members in lieu of flowers after Jim Stynes’ death.
The group also raised $450 from the raffle at the breakfast for an autographed MFC jumper, an opportunity to be included in the 2013 team photo, and Brown Brothers wine.
Ms Schreurs said the supporters group was launched in 2009 to support the MFC with their activities in the City of Casey and to increase their supporter base.
“Our group was launched at a breakfast at the Settlement Hotel and we decided to make this an annual event,” she said.
“There are eight of us on the committee and we organise the breakfast with the support and assistance of the Melbourne Football Club.
“Everyone had a fantastic morning and they were all thrilled to have such fantastic guest speakers.”
