LYNBROOK Hotel was evacuated and closed for the night on Saturday after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
CFA crews from Cranbourne, Hampton Park and Hallam were called to the blaze about 5.45pm on Saturday, as well as the police to secure the site.
Cranbourne senior station officer Ian Glass said upon arrival people were evacuating from the hotel.
“When we arrived there was smoke coming from the roof above the kitchen,” he said.
“Upon further investigation we found that there was a fire in the roof space connected to the wood-fired oven.
“It took us about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.”
The hotel remained closed for the night.
Venue manager Troy Ellis said the majority of the venue reopened on Sunday, except the bistro which opened at 5.30pm on Monday after being given the all clear from the Casey Council.
“I’d like to thank for CFA and the police,” he said.
“They were fantastic.
“The customers were orderly and helpful as well.
“Thank God everyone got out safely and the venue was able to be re-opened the next day.”
