CRANBOURNE Chorale’s 21st birthday celebration was on song, with a huge audience turning out for the milestone occasion.
The chorale celebrated its coming of age with a concert at the Casey Grammar School Performing Arts Centre, followed by dinner at Balla Balla Community Centre on 15 July.
Cranbourne Chorale secretary Jennie Toyne said the group had the largest audience in history for its annual concert to mark the occasion.
“Six members of the original choristers were among the audience, as well as many others who have passed through the choir over the years,” she said.
“It was a wonderful reunion.”
City of Casey councillors Geoff Ablett, Amanda Stapledon, Bob Halsall and Wayne Smith attended – and presented the group with a certificate of congratulations in recognition of 21 years of dedicated service to the community.
The Cranbourne Lions Club established the Cranbourne Chorale as Cranbourne Lions Choir in 1991 with just 12 members. The choir now boasts 70 choristers.
