YOUNG women had the opportunity to discuss the issues that affect them at a special conference held in Cranbourne this month.
Freedom Christian Church held its Serendipity conference on Friday 13 July, aimed at young women in the community.
The conference had an Alice in Wonderland theme and aimed to help teenagers with issues that affect them.
Pastor Lorri Kruithoff said they discussed topics including self-esteem, bullying, relationships, purpose and identity and fashion.
“There were also opportunities for girls to have private discussions with trained counsellors,” she said.
“Some of these issues are not talked about and often swept under the proverbial carpet and this often causes deep confusion and heartache.
“We received very positive feedback from the girls, who truly benefited from frank discussion on these issues.
“Very often young people are not given the opportunity to discuss the things that are truly worrying them.”
Ms Kruithoff said the church would hold this conference once a year, as well as different kinds of conferences for vulnerable groups in the community.
