Childcare centres on exposure site list

A supermarket, a takeaway shop and even a vaccination hub are among the latest Covid-19 exposure sites in Casey.

On Thursday 30 September, the Department of Health listed Coles Eden Rise to its list of exposure sites.

The store was an exposure site on Friday 24 September, between 7am and 9.15am.

Some people will be tier 1 contacts and will need to quarantine for 14 days, and the Department will contact these people individually.

Otherwise, the site is a tier 2 and those there during that time will need to get tested urgently and isolate until they receive a negative result.

Likewise, Hungry Jack’s in Cranbourne North – at 398 South Gippsland Highway, Cranbourne North – is also a tier 2 exposure site, on Saturday 25 September between 11am and 5pm.

The Cranbourne Turf Club Vaccination Clinic is also a tier 2 exposure site, from Sunday 26 September between 1pm and 6pm.

In both cases, people who attended at that time should get tested urgently and isolate until they receive a negative result.

Some Hungry Jack’s contacts will be tier 1, and will be contacted by the Department of Health directly and required to quarantine for 14 days.

Coles Lynbrook has also been listed as a tier 2 exposure site, after a positive case was recorded there on Thursday 16 and September – between 8.50am and 12.20pm on the Thursday, and 9am and 12.15pm on the Friday.

Again, tier 1 contacts will be contacted directly by the Department and will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

Others who visited during these times should get tested urgently and isolate until they receive a negative result.

In Narre Warren, two childcare centres have been listed as tier 1 sites at multiple times over the past week.

Kool Kidz Childcare Narre Warren was attended by a positive case on:

– Monday 20 September between 6.30am-6.30pm

– Tuesday 21 September between 6.30am-6.30pm

– Wednesday 22 September between 6.30am-6.30pm

Narre Kids Early Learning and Kinder was attended by a positive case on:

– Tuesday 21 September between 9am-4.30pm

– Wednesday 22 September between 9am-4.30pm

– Thursday 23 September between 9am-4.30pm

– Friday 24 September between 9am-4.30pm

– Monday 27 September between 9am-4.30pm

– Tuesday 28 September between 9am-4.30pm

Anyone who attended the centres during these times must get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from exposure.

The increased list of exposure sites across Casey comes as the area continues to pose a concern for authorities.

There are currently 366 active Covid-19 cases in the LGA, which recorded 72 new cases in the 24 hours to Thursday 30 September.

Among these, there are 34 active cases in postcode 3806; 63 active cases in postcode 3805; 123 active cases in postcode 3977; and 30 in postcode 3976.

The State Government has mandated vaccines for all workers on the authorised worker list, with workers to have their first dose by Friday 15 October and their second by 26 November.

Thousands of vaccination appointments are still available across the state over the coming seven days, including 1904 at Cranbourne Turf Club.
