A YOUNG Berwick ballet dancer is taking the next step towards a successful ballet career after being accepted into the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.
Celine Tricarico, who currently takes dancing lessons at Contemporary Independent Dance in Cranbourne, will be attending the Richmond school on a part time basis next year, for five years to achieve a diploma in dancing.
The 14-year-old has been dancing for five years, specialising in classical ballet for three of those years.
She will be balancing her studies at St Francis Xavier College in Berwick and developing her ballet techniques further.
Director of Contemporary Independent Dance Nicole Jacobsson said Celine was a wonderful and brilliant student.
“She is extremely dedicated and did extremely well in her solo performances at some of the largest comps in Victoria, which was fantastic,” she said.“She certainly has the passion, the drive and the want to become very successful and I do feel that she can go very far. She will be sorely missed.”
Celine said she was very happy to have been accepted and was excited for the years to come.
“It’s going to be a hard year but I’ll get through it,” she said.“I only started when I was nine but ever since I started I knew it was something I wanted to do. I enjoy it more because it’s technical and it’s a challenge.”
She enjoyed performing solo, but also loved taking part in productions including Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
Celine said she would like to become a professional dancer as part of a company and thanked the staff and students at Contemporary Independent Dance for their support.
“They’re like a second family, all really nice and the teachers have helped me a lot… I owe lots to my teachers,” she said.“I’d like to thank Ms Phillipa Sprague, who taught me the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, Ms Nicole Jacobsson, who taught me contemporary, troupe and solo performances, Ms Rebecca Jacobsson, who took my pointe class and Ms Paris Hodson, who helped me with body conditioning and the open ballet class, as well as my family and friends.”
