It was a bad start to Operation Regal for one driver.
At about 7.15am on Saturday 11 June, the first day of Operation Regal, Casey Highway Patrol members performing speed detection duties intercepted a 47-year-old male driver on South Gippsland Highway Tooradin driving at 92 kmh through the 60 kmh zone.
A preliminary breath test indicated alcohol and the driver soon after underwent a breath test, the result being 0.071.
The driver was issued with infringement notices totalling $1033 and will be off the road for a minimum period of 6 months.
Driving under the influence is a particular focus of Operation Regal.
Police implore all drivers to drive safely, make the right decisions and be present behind the wheel.
