More train line disruptions

Cranbourne line upgrade works will ramp up this week with buses replacing trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, combined with road closures at the Greens Road level crossing.

Buses will replace trains between Dandenong and Cranbourne stations from 8pm on Wednesday 25 November until last service on Wednesday 2 December.

Buses replacements will extend from Cranbourne to Caulfield stations from 8pm on Friday 27 November until 4am on Sunday 29 November.

Trains will also be replaced between Caulfield and Cranbourne between 8pm and the last train each night from Monday 30 November to Wednesday 2 December.

A total of 90 parking spots will close in the Cheltenham Road car park at Dandenong station from 4am on Wednesday 25 November until 4am on Thursday 3 December.

Greens Road in Dandenong South will be closed eastbound at the level crossing between Kitchen Road and the South Gippsland Highway from 7am to 7pm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November.

There will also be various lane closures across the 700-metre stretch, including single lane closures in each direction from 8pm Wednesday 25 November until 3am on Wednesday 2 December.

At Abbotts Road, there will be overnight road closures at the level crossing between National Drive and the South Gippsland Highway from 11.30pm until 5am on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 December.

During the works, crews will carry out major construction for three rail bridges, continue installing power and signalling along the line, while also starting works to excavate an underpass for the new Merinda Park station.

Metro Trains will also undertake maintenance works between Dandenong and Caulfield.

To ensure the safety of all workers and the community, all construction and maintenance work undertaken will operate under a High Risk Covid Safe plan.
