POLICE would like to speak to a man who helped put out a fire in Berwick last month.
The fire was started on the pergola of a Hazeldene Court home between 10.45 and 11pm on 16 August.
Police said the home backed onto a walkway and they believed someone has thrown something over the fence and onto the roof of the pergola from the laneway.
The fibreglass roof received about three by six metres of damage.
Police now wish to speak to a man who helped the residents extinguish the fire. “He said he saw smoke as he was walking down the street and came to help,” police said. “We ask that this man make himself known to police.”
He is described as Caucasian, in his mid 40s, about 6 feet tall, medium build with dark, crew-cut hair.
Anyone with details is asked to contact Casey CIU on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
