A man has been arrested and another fined after they were allegedly located with a weapon, drugs and stolen goods at a vehicle checkpoint in Cranbourne on 13 August.
Police and PSOs working as part of Operation Sentinel stopped a ride-share vehicle travelling through a checkpoint on Frankston-Cranbourne Road about 11.30pm.
An observant PSO noticed one of the two rear passengers was allegedly carrying a knife in his pocket.
A search was conducted and it is alleged officers then located drugs as well as a number of items believed to be stolen, police say.
One passenger, a 29-year-old Corio man, was issued an infringement notice for possessing a controlled weapon.
The second passenger, a 31-year-old Warragul man, was arrested and charged with multiple offences including possess drug of dependence, possess proceeds of crime and committing offences whilst on bail.
He was remanded to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today.
The men were also found to be in breach of the directions of the Chief Health Officer and were each issued fines.
