GLEE fans eat your heart out, as seven high school musicals will battle it out in Casey’s first Schools on Stage.
On 15 September, seven schools from across the municipality will perform two songs from their 2011 school musical, under licence.
The show will feature songs from some of Broadway’s best-known classics including Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Guys and Dolls and Fame, and new material from original shows such as Endeavour Hills Secondary College’s ‘Tribe’.
The show will be hosted by former Home and Away actor Tim Campbell, and a panel of judges will determine who walks away with the $2000 first prize.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the new competition was a unique addition to the Casey cultural calendar.
“This type of event hasn’t been seen in Casey before. We believe it’s quite rare, even by international standards, to obtain the permissions necessary to perform this many songs from so many well-known productions in this manner,” Cr Balmes said.
“It’s an exciting event the whole family can enjoy, and a great way for Casey’s young people to show what they’re capable of.”
Schools on Stage will be held on Thursday 15 September at 7.30pm the Hillcrest Theatre, Clyde North. Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets cost $20. Visit www.trybooking.com/SIP.
