CASEY Grammar School celebrated the opening of two new state-of-the-art school buildings last month.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne officially opened the Cranbourne East’s school performing arts centre, science building and primary classrooms on Friday 19 August.
The opening ceremony was held in the auditorium with performances by the school production ensemble and the school band.
The $4.4 million performing arts centre includes a 530-seat auditorium, class music and drama rooms and sessional music rooms.
The facility will be used for both class and individual music and drama lessons, school productions, concerts and assemblies and will be let out to the public for a variety of activities in 2012.
Casey Grammar School principal Margaret Buttigieg said the centre was a great asset to the school.
“It has allowed further expansion of our growing performing arts faculty and provides state-of-the art facilities for school productions and assemblies,” she said.
It provides the ideal venue for the upcoming ‘Wizard of Oz’ school production and will benefit the community by providing a large venue for various performances.”
The new science building, which cost $2.15 million, includes four science laboratories for chemistry, biology, physics and general science, a large preparation room, meeting room and staff offices.
“Benefits are already being realised with our students now being increasingly enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate in various extension and science excellence programs including Operation Guardian, Genetech 2011, The Australian Brain Bee Challenge and The Science in Schools Competition,” Ms Buttigieg said.
