LYNBROOK Auskick has been kicking goals on and off the field this year.
Co-ordinator and coach Gina Davey said this year the club had seen massive improvements, developments, changes and growth.
This year has been the most successful in the history of the club, with 94 participants – 30 more than last year.
Ms Davey said there were more coaches, who look after a specific age group, a new major sponsor – NAB and other community sponsors and player awards.
She said however that one of the main changes was adding a slogan to the club’s name – Footy Fun for Everyone’ – which the students chant at each session.
“Lynbrook Auskick was successful in achieving a grant from the City of Casey,” she said. “ We aim to target nationalities where football is not the first sport of choice. This grant also endeavours to promote Lynbrook Auskick as being a centre for both boys and girls, reiterating that girls can play football too.
“The overall message is that anything is achievable and regardless of gender or nationality, you can be an Auskick kid and share in its many positive and wonderful benefits.”
Ms Davey said one of the outstanding members of the club was 12-year-old trainee coach Caleb.
“He has been nominated for NAB Auskick Volunteer of the Year for his hard work, commitment and dedication,” she said.
“He has been an invaluable asset to our centre, and has a wonderful manner with the younger children.”
The club celebrated its final clinic this month, with the hip hop crew KBK performing along with many other activities.
