Home and away, ready to play

TOORADIN Dalmore Football Club stalwarts from over the years returned for the club’s annual Last Home Game Reunion on Saturday.
Reunion lunch co-ordinator Joe Svaganovic thanked those who supported efforts to gather former players and officials together each year, but suggested that a younger person might like to take on the co-ordinator’s job. “We need to attract players from the latter years, the younger ex-players from the 1970s on and I feel a younger person might have more success with that,” he said.
Mr Svaganovic commended the late Ron Mantel who started the reunion lunches and former player and long serving club member, Laurie Chapman, who also served as co-ordinator and established a database.
“The aim is to provide a function that brings people together who haven’t seen each other for years,” he said.
Club president, Derek Genoni said the club had, sadly, experienced a run of injuries during the season, but while this made things difficult it also provided opportunity for youngsters to step up into senior footy and have a go.“These young players will be the future of our club,“ he said.
