It’s all in the name

WORK on the wetlands park at Cascades on Clyde is now underway and the developers are calling on the community to come up with a name for it.
Casey councillors Geoff Ablett and Amanda Stapledon launched the lakeside precinct and turned the first sod at a Cascades on Clyde residents’ function this month.
GEO development manager Tony Rogers said the company would spend more than $5 million in the coming months.
“The 14-hectare wetlands will not only serve an important drainage function, they will create a beautiful environment for families and friends to gather and meet,” he said.
The wetlands system has been carefully designed to mitigate the impacts of storm events and improve the quality of water being discharged from the estate into the surrounding rivers and streams.
When complete, this park will include not only the wetland lakes and ponds, it will be beautified with viewing platforms and boardwalks, walking paths, barbecue facilities and play equipment.
The wetlands will take about a year to complete.
In the meantime, GEO is running a competition to find a name for the park and is seeking suggestions from the community.
As a reward, the person with the winning name will a $2000 Westfield shopping voucher.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the website www.wetlandsrelease.com.au or picked up at the Cascades sales office on Linsell Boulevard.
