LOCAL artist Phil Nevin is set to make an impression at the popular Kevin Hill’s ‘Top Ten’ Australian Artists show to be held in Casey.
The Doveton resident will be this year’s Casey guest artist for the show, at the Casey Civic Centre on the weekend of 8-9 October.
Mr Nevin has been experimenting with colour and paints since a change in life direction resulted in his departure from his former career and led him to complete a tertiary qualification in Computer Animation and the Visual Arts.
“I’m yet to decide on a favourite style or category,” he said. “The journey is still an adventure.”
Casey community strengthening manager Janette Green said that the Casey Guest Artist program was a unique opportunity provided by the council to highlight and promote local accomplished artists.
“Many of our wonderful artists in Casey are very accomplished in their own right but may not be well known by our local community,” she said.
“The Casey Guest Artist program, in partnership with the Kevin Hill ‘Top Ten’ Australian Artists, gives local artists the opportunity to shine here in their own community and provides promotional opportunities not otherwise available locally.
“It is also a great opportunity for visitors to the show to meet and buy works directly from the artist.”
Mr Nevin will be present throughout the show to meet and talk about his work at the exhibition.
The free show will be open from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday 8 October and from 9.30am and 4pm on Sunday 9 October at the Casey council chambers, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
