A BLIND Bight woman was flown to The Alfred hospital suffering head injuries after her weekend gardening went wrong on Saturday.
Cranbourne paramedics and an ambulance helicopter were called to a Blind Bight property just before 5pm on Saturday, after a woman was injured when a tree branch struck her.
Paramedic Steve Murphy said a 42 year-old woman had spent the afternoon in the garden and was helping prune tree branches on the property.
“A tree branch about four metres long and 10 centimetres in diameter was cut, and dropped about four metres, striking the woman,” he said.
“She was knocked to the ground and hit her head on a bluestone rock in the garden.
“The woman was unconscious for about four minutes, but had regained consciousness when paramedics arrived 11 minutes after the Triple-zero call.
“She also had a small seizure.”
Mr Murphy said a drip was put in the women’s arm and she was given some medication to reduce the severity of a headache she had.
“The loss of consciousness combined with the small seizure had us concerned the woman may have suffered serious head injuries, so we requested an ambulance helicopter,” he said.
The woman was moved by ambulance to the Warneet Reserve and was loaded into the helicopter.
She was flown to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
