THE City of Casey is taking steps to help promote the responsible service, sale and consumption of alcohol in the area.
Casey council, in conjunction with Victoria Police, Department of Justice – Responsible Alcohol Victoria and licensed venues and packaged liquor outlets in the city, will launch the Casey Alcohol Accord 2011-2016 next week.
The accord will providebest practice principles and self-audit checklists for businesses to guide the responsible service of alcohol, improved safety and security, commitment to being good neighbours and packaged liquor responsibilities.
In addition to the accord, two posters have been developed which will be displayed in the community, licensed venues and packaged liquor outlets.
The posters inform residents of the fines associated with anti-social behaviour and alcohol misuse in public places and the harms of underage drinking.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the accord was a voluntary agreement between businesses selling liquor and government representatives in theCity of Casey to promote the responsible service, sale and consumption of alcohol and encourage a high standard of behaviour in the community.
“The accord aims to contribute to the improved health, well-being and safety of residents and visitors to the City of Casey, and to foster a pleasant amenity,” Cr Balmes said.
Managers or owners of licensed venues or packaged liquor outlets within the City of Casey are invited to attend the launch of the Casey Alcohol Accord 2011-2016.
It will be held on Wednesday 27 July at 10am at the City of Casey Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
