In the saddle for horse strategy

By Bridget Cook
CASEY’S equestrian enthusiasts have less than a week to provide feedback on the council’s draft equestrian strategy.
Casey council is calling for public comment on the Draft Casey Equestrian Strategy, which aims to provide a planned approach for the future provision of equestrian opportunities within the area.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes encouraged residents to give their views on the strategy.
“Casey has a large and active equestrian community and we would like to hear their views in order to improve equestrian facilities and opportunities in the municipality,” she said.
Based on earlier community consultation, the draft strategy recommends developing a safe and interconnected network of trails, undertake a feasibility study into the development of a regional equestrian facility, develop a guide, including maps for equestrian activities in Casey and install warning and advisory signs for both horse riders and motor vehicle drivers.
The consultation period ends on Tuesday 12 July.
Copies of the draft strategy can be accessed at the council’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.au/currentconsultations or hard copies are available to view at City of Casey Customer Service Centres.
Submissions should be made in writing, must include your name and address and should be addressed to the Principal Recreation Planner, City of Casey, PO Box 1000, Narre Warren, 3805.
For further information contact City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200.
