THE Coastal Villages Art Group is set to be officially launched in fitting fashion.
The group will hold its inaugural Coastal Villages Art Exhibition as part of the City of Casey’s 2011 winter arts program next month.
The group was created by the Warneet Association that has managed to attract more than 20 artists from coastal villages Blind Bight, Cannons Creek, Tooradin or Warneet to take part in the exhibition.
The exhibition will open with a function on Friday 15 July, where City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes will officially launch the exhibition and the Coastal Villages Art Group.
The exhibition will feature the work of the late Peter Chapman.
Mr Chapman was a long-term resident of Warneet, who passed away under tragic circumstances in 2009.
He was a prolific photographer who has left a substantial body of work from his extensive travels throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe and the USA. Michele Chapman, his wife, has agreed to showcase a selection of his many photographs.
The exhibition will be held in the Community Hall at the Warneet Motor Yacht Club, Rutherford Parade, Warneet.
It will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 16 July, and from 10am until 4pm on Sunday 17 July.
Admission is a gold coin donation.
A ticket for the launch function is $20, which has to be pre-purchased.
