THE City of Casey has ticked all the right boxes for its Municipal Emergency Management Plan.
The council received the highest possible result in a recent audit undertaken by the Victorian State Emergency Service.
A requirement of the Emergency Management Act 1986, the Municipal Emergency Management Plan details the general arrangements that can be used to manage emergencies that may occur within the municipality.
A Certificate of Audit was presented to the council by the Victorian SES at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
City of Casey emergency management director Greg Wood said Casey was pro-active about planning for all types of potential emergencies and it was pleasing that this was reflected in the council being rated ‘best practice’ in each of the 25 audit areas.
“Achieving ‘best practice’ in each area recognises that council’s practices go beyond the standard and reflect a higher level of planning and emergency management arrangements than the required standard for a plan to comply with the Act,” he said.
