Bonds for top law

By Sasha Petrova
THREE high achieving Cranbourne Secondary College students have won through to the Bond University Mooting Competition finals to be held in the Gold Coast in July.
If they win, they could be offered a scholarship to study law at the prestigious Bond University.
Yearv 11 students Kevin Tangga, Samual Dzungayira and Najd Hussein competed in the Moot Court Competition in Melbourne on 5 May, which had them presenting a legal argument based on a past case.
Their opponents were students from Camberwell Grammar.
Cranbourne’s High Achiever co-ordinator Jean-Pierre Kruger said Cranbourne Secondary College was one of the few government schools involved in the competition.
“It’s very seldom Year 11s go through to the finals,” he said.
Scotch College was the other school that progressed to the final.
But the three Cranbourne students did more than just win. They also each received an Advocacy Merit Award for their presentation.
Mr Kruger said it was thanks to the students’ legal studies teachers, Kim Vines and Paris Keriyaku, who trained the kids regularly that they achieved such success in the competition.
