FORGET about planking, ‘teapotting’ is the new coolest thing around town.
Ten mums got together in front of Lynbrook Primary School last Wednesday to demonstrate first hand how easy and safe it is for people to do.
The timing was perfect – as the official day for the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea was the day after the ladies posed for the photo.
One of the teapotters, Vanessa Watson, said what originally started with one lady teapotting grew in popularity and eventually a group of mothers decided to get together for a group teapot.
“This photo came about from one of the (school’s) mums, Jodie Nirens, taking a photo of a friend teapotting and putting it on Facebook,” she said.
“This started a whole thread of comments and ended with a few of us agreeing to meet out at school at 3pm the next day to do a group teapotting photo.
“So five of us – Jodie, Rachael, Jodie Redman, Connie and myself – arranged to meet out the front of the school.
“Once we arrived it seemed our group of five had started to increase in numbers and soon there was 10 keen teapotters ready to go!”
Teapotting has received a large amount of interest and there is even a teapotting Facebook page, which managed to get more than 5000 fans in less than two weeks.
Ms Watson said they decided to teapot to show everyone a safe alternative to planking, which has caught a fair bit of negative attention of late.
