Cavs fail to fire

THE Cranbourne Cavaliers have crashed back to earth with an eight-point loss to Maccabi at the Cranbourne Basketball Stadium.
Coming off a stirring win against Western Port, the Cavs were woeful on Saturday, shooting only 33 per cent from the field.
Despite finishing with 25 points, Jayden McMillin went 6-16 from the three-point line and lacked penetration to the basket.
It was a similar story for the remainder of the Cavs team, who preferred to take the easy outside shot rather than work hard in the paint. “We lacked aggression,” coach Corey Smith said. “We were taking too many easy ones from outside. If we had taken half of the shots we had from long range and taken them inside, I expect it would have been a different outcome.”
Justin McMillin also had his worst game of the season.
McMillin, who has averaged 15 points over his previous nine games, posted only two points and was out-played by the more experienced Maccabi defenders.
