THE local community will have the opportunity to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country at a range of Anzac Day services around Casey next Monday.
Local RSL branches have arranged a number of Anzac Day services of remembrance, marches and ceremonies for the community to honour those who served and died for the nation.
Anzac Day, which falls on Monday, commemorates the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
Events to be held in the City of Casey on 25 April include:
• 5.30am: Dawn service out the front of the Cranbourne RSL, South Gippsland Highway, Cranbourne, followed by a breakfast hosted by the Cranbourne Lions Club.
• 6am: Dawn service and gunfire at the City of Casey Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, followed by a breakfast.
• 6am: Dawn service at the cenotaph site at the Pearcedale Public Hall, Queens Road, Pearcedale.
• 10.15am: Cranbourne RSL march from the rear of the Ritchies Supermarket car park, in Cranbourne, to the cenotaph in Greg Clydesdale Square, High Street.
• 11am: Commemorative service at Greg Clydesdale Square, High Street, Cranbourne, including a flyover by the Roulettes.
• 11am: Service and parade in High Street, Berwick.
