Knights

By Gavin Staindl
A MASSIVE last quarter by the Blackburn Knights stamped out any hope the Cranbourne Cavaliers had of a last-ditch comeback at Fairhills High School on Sunday.
Leading by 28 points heading into the last quarter, the undefeated Blackburn switched on the afterburners to drain 38 points in the final period and record a 45-point win in division two of the BigV.
Despite an increase in offensive output from the week before, the Cavs were still crushed by the competition’s biggest losing margin so far this season.
The Cavs scored 27 more points than in the previous week against Mildura, shooting nearly 10 per cent better, but defensively the Cavs were outplayed.
Against Mildura the defence held strong, but on the weekend Cranbourne was out-rebounded 54-33 and turned the ball over 24 times, the most turnovers so far this season.
Cranbourne will return home this weekend when it hosts Horsham at the Cranbourne Basketball Stadium.
