Police probe bus assault

A MAN and a teenager were assaulted on a bus in Cranbourne in December last year.
About 5pm on Monday 6 December, a 17-year-old girl from Cranbourne West and a 32-year-old man from Cranbourne were assaulted while on a Cranbourne transit bus number 13 on route 790 from Frankston to Cranbourne West.
Police said the teenager was sitting with three friends and engaged in conversation, when the offender started abusing the girl.
He then punched the girl to the right side of her jaw, police said. At this time the male victim told the offender to leave the girl alone.
Police said the offender then turned on the man and started throwing punches.
The man was struck twice to the side of his face. The offender then got off the bus at Lurline Street, Cranbourne, and was last seen heading towards the Brookland Greens estate.
The offender is described as Caucasian, in his 40s, with curly blonde or red, almost shoulder length hair and facial hair, also blonde or red in colour.
Police said he was wearing a baseball cap, possibly faded purple, dark green flannel-ette three-quarter or long sleeve shirt, dark blue jeans, black sunglasses and a black backpack.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
