CRANBOURNE residents donated an impressive 1879 gifts to the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal- contributing to a national record. There were 633 gifts donated during the final week of the appeal in Cranbourne.
The gifts were donated to the Salvation Army and distributed to local families in need at Christmas. Major Brad Halse from the Salvation Army said the gifts went a long way to ensuring families didn’t go without at Christmas. “On behalf of The Salvation Army, I’d like to thank all those who have donated to the appeal as your generosity will have a positive impact on people’s lives,” he said.
“Without Kmart, and the public’s great support of its Wishing Tree Appeal, Christmas for so many families across the country would have been that little bit tougher.”
This year’s appeal raised a record 464, 812 nation-wide.
