Brazen excavator thief caught

A 30-year-old man was arrested following the alleged theft of an excavator in Cranbourne West on Monday morning, 15 July.

Dandenong police were at an address on Western Port Highway when they observed a man allegedly driving a stolen excavator just after midday.

Police say officers attempted to intercept the man when he drove through a fence and into a nearby paddock.

Police then ran after the man who was arrested in the paddock on Storm Avenue in Lyndhurst a short time later.

The Skye man is currently in custody.
