AN ELECTRIC car is charging up at the Casey Council offices.
The council is trialling an electric car for four months as part of a State Government program, joining other councils in the South East Councils Climate Change Alliance (SECCCA).
The car will run on green power, which is 100 per cent renewable energy.
Council officers will trial the car and provide data and feedback to the government about their experiences of using the green vehicle.
The aim is to cut out issues such as infrastructure, servicing and consumer behaviour for future implementation of electric cars.
Casey mayor Shar Balmes said Casey’s participation in the trial gave the council an opportunity to contribute to research and collate its own data.
