A 22-year-old man was hit with a metal pole near the Cranbourne Railway Station last month.
A man approached the victim as he walked along the footpath in a reserve near Ruffy Drive at 8.15am on 22 November.
The man hit him with a metal pole and demanded his wallet and mobile phone. The offender tried to hit the 22-year-old with the pole again, but he managed to run off.
Nothing was taken from the victim.
Police described the offender as Caucasian, about 180cm tall, of medium build and wearing a white hooded jacket with a black VZ symbol, torn jeans, a black beanie and work boots.
