Local leaders bared all in the name of education earlier this month.
Alkira Secondary College year 11 VCAL students interviewed leaders of community groups about their leadership qualities, styles and experiences in order to meet VCAL outcomes for Personal Development Skills.
Visitors included members of Rotary, Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Cranbourne RSL, the Vietnam Veterans Association of Victoria Education Team, Akoonah Park Men’s Shed, the army and staff from Alkira.
Guests were greeted with scones and tea before sharing their stories.
Students Courtney and Emily said, “we are very grateful for the experience and knowledge these amazing volunteers passed on to us and hope they visit Alkira Secondary College again.”
Lloma Shaw, a member of the Youth committee of the Rotary Club of Cranbourne, enjoyed sharing her knowledge with the students.
“I had a very enjoyable morning with two polite, articulate and interesting students. Their questions were forthright and well thought out and I hope I was able to relate to them my experiences as a leader and how they might go about looking at their own leadership roles in the future.
“These young people are a credit to themselves, the school and their families,” she said.
