Crash claims life of Pearcedale woman

An 18-year-old Pearcedale woman is among those killed in a collision in Mount Eliza last night.

On Monday 27 May, the woman was a passenger in a vehicle travelling northbound on Nepean Highway when it collided with an oncoming vehicle about 11.15pm.

She and the driver, a 22-year-old man from Heatherton, died at the scene while the driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Victoria Police Acting Deputy Commissioner Stephen Leane said in a press conference in response to this and other vehicle incidents that it was “a very sad series of circumstances.”

“We can all slow down just that little bit … pay attention more, leave the phone alone, not tamper with navigation gear more than we need to, and focus on what we’re doing,” he said.
