Here comes the sun, so cover up

AS the summer sun heats up Casey families have been reminded to slip, slop, slap.
Flinders MP Greg Hunt has launched a national SunSmart campaign along with the Cancer Council of Australia and is urging residents throughout Westernport to cover up with a hat, shirt, sunglasses and sunscreen.
“I particularly urge families to pay attention to the SunSmart UV index available as part of the Bureau of Meteorology’s daily forecast,” he said.
“The bureau currently provides UV Index forecasts on its website, which covers 179 different locations in Australia.
“We will now generate this information with the SunSmart UV alerts issued each day in major newspapers.”
Mr Hunt said 380,000 Australians were diagnosed with skin cancer every year.
“These figures show that people are continuing to take risks with their health.
“We don’t want people to avoid outdoor activity. We just want them to plan their time outdoors better and know exactly when they need to be SunSmart,” he said.
